Release Notes
What's new in RapiD Vision. The most recent release is at the top.
Windows desktop builds are published as a signed MSIX package and update themselves in the background. The browser app updates on its next reload.
v2.6.0.192 — (October 2026)
Highlights
- History and Data share one product viewer, with zoom, download and copy in a bar under the image.
- Admins can collect training images from a machine, and single conveyors can be disabled in Machine management.
- A device left in settings mode now shows a banner on every page, with a button to exit it.
History and Data now share one product viewer with every control in a bar under the image, admins can collect training images from a running machine, single conveyors can be switched off in Machine management, and a device left in settings mode is shown everywhere in the app.
Product viewer
- Tapping an image on the History page now opens the same product viewer as the Data page, paging through the products in the list. It replaces the separate zoom window.
- All viewer controls sit in one bar under the image, so nothing covers the photo or the 3D view: previous/next at the ends, and in between zoom out/in with the current zoom level, fit to window, show or hide detections, Download image and Copy Image. In the 3D view the bar holds the colour, voxels/points and zero-plane toggles instead.
- Download saves what is on screen, with the detections drawn in when they are shown. On the web app it lands in the browser's Downloads folder. The right-click copy menu and the File menu in the viewer are gone.
- The Top / Bottom / 3D switch only lists the views a product has data for, and is hidden when only one is left. No average-colour chip is shown when colour inspection was off.
- On the Data page, previous/next carries on across pages of the grid, and deleting a product moves on to its neighbour instead of jumping back to the first product.
- On phones the arrows sit in the card beside the image, a two-finger pinch only zooms (no more accidental rotation) and the zoom buttons are left out.
Data collection for commissioning
- Admins can put a device in data collection mode from the new Data Collection item in a Live tile's menu. The device saves a raw image from the top camera, bottom camera or both every N seconds to the cloud, in folders of 100, until the maximum number of images is reached.
- Only save frames with a detection is on by default, so an empty belt is skipped and at most one image is saved per interval.
- A session can be scheduled to start at a later date and time, up to 7 days ahead.
Machine management and settings mode
- Each conveyor tile (basic, weighing, pneumatic, Marel sorter and robot) has a power button to disable the conveyor. A disabled conveyor is disconnected and not used for sorting, its tile shows a Disabled banner, and switching it back on reconnects it without a restart.
- A device left in settings mode — after the app closed or lost its connection on the Filters or Camera tab — is no longer stuck there. Every page except Options shows a banner with an Exit settings mode button, Home shows a SETTINGS MODE chip on the system, and the device no longer saves settings mode, so a restart always ends it.
Home and Live view
- Each vision system on Home is shown as a tile in the colour of its logo light, with the run state as a badge on its corner. Quick-action labels are readable in dark mode again.
- On the Live page, the Detections, Diagnostics and Eco mode tiles use light pills on the card instead of a black strip, and narrow tiles drop the configuration and telemetry first so the machine name stays readable.
- On a 3D feed, the colour-mode and Plane chips are now pills in the bottom-right corner instead of sitting under the header.
Faster browser start-up
- Signing in no longer reloads the app twice, and the daily token renewal now finishes in the background in under a second instead of falling back to a sign-in page after 10 seconds.
- The list of companies no longer holds up sign-in: the remembered company opens straight away and the Home company card fills in when the list arrives.
Fixes
- The installed web app (PWA) no longer runs out of memory after a few minutes in a hidden tab: image streams that were cancelled are now actually closed.
- Analytics charts that were scrolled out of view now show their data after a refresh, instead of staying empty until a second refresh. The Scores chart axes no longer go blank.
- The live batch cards no longer crash the app on an order rule without batches or an order without rules.
- In Norwegian, the History menu item was labelled as the live page; it now reads Historikk.
- Removed the Location difference setting from Options ▸ Advanced. It had no effect.
v2.6.0.175 — (October 2026)
Highlights
- Recipes can be bound to suppliers, and a sorting item can spread products over a row of outputs.
- Standby slows inference while the belt runs empty, and the Live header now floats over the feed.
- Filter History by machine and lane, and see each conveyor's hardware logs in Machine management.
Sorting recipes can now be bound to suppliers and spread products over a row of outputs, a machine goes into standby when its belt runs empty, and History can be filtered by machine and lane. This release also fixes several numbers that came out 100× wrong in Dutch, German and Norwegian.
Sorting recipes
- Supplier triggers: when a vision configuration has the new Automatic recipe switching option turned on, each recipe gets a Triggers page to bind it to suppliers. One recipe can be marked as the configuration's default for batches that match no supplier. For now, a batch from a supplier bound to another recipe raises an in-app notification suggesting the switch; recipes are not switched automatically yet.
- Auto-increment output: a sorting item can spread its products over a row of physical outputs. Each product goes to the next output up to an end output, then starts over (for example crates 3, 4, 5, 6, 3, …). Overlapping ranges block saving, and charts, the Home sorting bar and the conveyor output picker show the range.
Live view and Home
- The Live page header now floats over the camera feed as a set of pills: machine and configuration top left, telemetry, actions top right, batch and recipe bottom left. The header no longer jumps between one and two rows as telemetry values change, and long machine names no longer clip the system selector.
- Standby: when the belt runs without products, the system goes into standby and slows
down inference until the next product arrives. It shows a Standby chip on the Live page
and a blue STANDBY chip on Home. Set the delay with Standby after no product for (s)
under Options ▸ Advanced (
0turns it off). - Each connected system on Home now shows the colour its logo lights are showing, so a red logo is visible without walking to the machine.
- Admins can open the RapiD Vision logs from Home, either for everything or for one machine straight from its row.
History and Machine management
- History can be filtered by Machine and by Lane, and each card shows which machine detected the product (and on which lane). Products now record their lane when they are detected.
- Every conveyor card in Machine management has a collapsible Logs panel with the latest entries for its scale, relay, Marelec, robot and drive. Each entry shows its severity, and identical entries in a row are collapsed into one with a count. Drives now report faults, recoveries and emergency stops there too.
Fixes
- Period ranges (hour, day, week, month, year) now follow the factory's time zone and are sent to the API as real UTC, so charts and lists line up, including around daylight-saving changes.
- Week and month views on the Data and History pages now include their last day. Week numbers follow ISO for years that start on a Friday or Saturday (such as 2027).
- With Dutch, German or Norwegian as the app language:
- History spot scores are no longer shown 100× too large.
- Conveyor frequency and weight and camera calibration commands are no longer rejected by the device.
- A price per unit entered on an English (US) system is no longer saved 100× too high. Both
.and, are accepted as decimal separator. - Switching device while the Settings page was still loading could send the previous device's settings to the newly selected one. Settings now only go to the device they were loaded from.
- The Reports page opens much faster: it reuses the already-loaded claims and only builds the months in view.
- The Marelec sorter now reconnects in the background, so the logo no longer stays red until the first product is detected after a slow start-up.
- Tighter role and API-key checks on the API, and a fix for cloud relay connections that dropped their viewers after five minutes.
- Reviewed Dutch, German and Norwegian translations throughout the app.
v2.6.0.162 — (September 2026)
A maintenance release around device notifications and diagnostics: alerts a restart already fixed no longer stay listed, a red logo light says what caused it, and the spatial sensor gets long enough to attach at boot.
Notifications
- System notifications raised by a device — camera not found, robot or ERP not connected, a crashed process, temperature and disk-space warnings — are now reconciled against the API when the device starts. A condition that cleared while the device was down is resolved instead of staying listed in the apps until it happens to occur again.
- A condition that is still active across the restart keeps its existing notification rather than being raised a second time, so no duplicate email or push goes out.
- If the device cannot reach the API while starting, reconciliation is retried on the next cycle instead of clearing notifications that may still be valid.
Diagnostics and hardware
- When the hardware logo turns solid red, the log now names what triggered it: top or bottom camera not found, a disconnected pneumatic relay or checkweigher, a disconnected robot or Marelec, a vision light that failed to attach, or an emergency stop. Pneumatics, checkweighers, the robot and Marelec are identified by conveyor ID or IP address and status.
- The reason is written when the logo turns red, when another device starts or stops failing, and once more when the last failure clears, so the log shows the transitions rather than a repeated line.
- The spatial sensor now gets 10 seconds to attach at startup instead of 5. It sits behind the USB hub and was regularly still enumerating, which left the system running without lid detection — and reporting "Spatial sensor not found" — until the next restart.
v2.6.0.149 — (September 2026)
Sorting recipes gain per-lane scope and drag-to-reorder priority, sorting destinations are picked by name instead of a bare output number, and the browser app's cold start is significantly faster.
Sorting items, recipes and destinations
- Destinations now come from a company-wide catalogue: pick a sorting destination by name instead of typing the physical output number. The number still travels with the recipe behind the scenes, so devices, charts and existing recipes keep working unchanged.
- A Destinations tab on the Sortings page manages the catalogue, with an Import from recipes action that adopts destinations already in use. Duplicate destinations are caught before they reach the API.
- An item whose output isn't in the catalogue is grandfathered as a "not in catalogue" legacy option, editable or replaceable but never silently re-pointed.
- Sorting-item priority is now set by dragging the cards instead of a number box — the card nearest the top wins, and position and priority can no longer drift apart.
- The Sorting Items page is reworked: adding an item is one button, each card shows its destination and main condition side by side, and defect conditions live in an expandable section on the card itself. The separate Defect Conditions page is gone.
- The condition editor is now a docked inspector panel instead of a modal dialog, so the card being edited stays visible while its limits are set.
- Sorting recipes can be scoped to specific lanes, so different lanes on the same machine can run different recipes; each lane is graded against its own active recipe, with an all-lanes recipe as fallback. The recipe card shows a rank badge per destination and a lane chip.
- Activating a recipe now explicitly states what it will replace on each device and lane, and a recipe can be deactivated on its own without re-editing its lane scope.
- The vision configuration editor now shares the sorting recipe editor's UI shell — numbered navigation, a docked live preview, and a sticky footer.
- Recipes and vision configurations can be duplicated, and gained configuration badges.
- Activating a recipe or configuration across several connected devices now uses a single multi-device picker instead of a per-page device selector, and activates on all chosen devices concurrently.
Home page
- The production card gains a 7-day trend mini bar chart: per-day throughput, average production, reject rate and the change versus the previous 7 days.
- New Orders & batches card (Office/Manager/Admin roles): the current order and its newest batch, linking through to the Data page.
- New Supplier quality card (same roles): last-30-day defect rate per supplier, linking through to Analytics.
- A push-notification nudge banner asks browser users to enable notifications, with a 30-day snooze on "Not now" or a denied prompt.
- The company switcher is no longer admin-only: every user now sees every company their account is entitled to, and can switch between them from the Home card.
- The connected-systems card shows each device's OS info instead of its system description.
- Falls back to the last day that actually had production, instead of showing an empty card.
- New Organisation settings card (Office/Manager/Admin roles) with a dialog holding every organisation-wide setting: report defaults, product display, claim thresholds and currency. It replaces the Styling item in the product list View menu, the Claim settings item in the data grid menu and the gear on the Reports page.
Colors and currency
- Added a custom colors legend to the Colors tab on the settings page.
- Custom colors now show on history and product-detail cards, with a toggle to bind them to the hardware logo colour.
- Currency is now configurable per tenant instead of hardcoded to euros, with correct decimal formatting throughout.
- Currency can now be picked from the app, under Organisation settings. Detection drawing mode, chronological order sorting, the top-and-bottom image filter and the minimum image count for claim percentage became settable there too.
Faster browser startup
- Cold start is noticeably faster: WASM AOT is off for the browser build, the previous build's cached assets are reused across deploys, the splash screen hides once discovery is up rather than waiting on devices, the four independent browser sign-in lookups now run concurrently, and the Home page's cards load in one round instead of a chain.
- Fixed a startup crash caused by the app's style assets being embedded twice.
- Added a startup timeline log so slow phases can be measured going forward.
Access control
- App roles are now read from the API access token rather than the ID token, so a role only needs to be assigned once and can no longer drift between what the interface shows and what the API allows.
- A new sign-in no longer inherits the previous session's access token.
- The client cache is now keyed per company instead of being cleared on switch, closing a gap where one company's cached data could briefly leak into another's view.
- Uploading a vision-configuration file is now restricted to the Admin role.
Other improvements
- Dates across the UI, including custom date/time columns in data grids, now display day-first (dd/MM) instead of month-first.
- Added configurable minimum/maximum valid weight thresholds to weighing conveyors.
- The classic colour filter is now restricted to the lane's region of interest, cutting inference time.
- Jetson provisioning now supports JetPack 6.0 as well as 6.2, with automatic CUDA/wheel-index detection, and gained a Tailscale step for remote SSH access.
Fixed
- Fixed an
InvalidCastExceptionwhen opening the Data page. - Fixed warnings not clearing once their underlying condition resolved.
- Fixed report page cards overflowing in compact mobile view, and the refresh button overlapping the search box in compact mode.
- Restored the navigation drawer and splash screen logos.
- Stopped a powered-off system from showing as still running.
- Fixed a duplicate custom-colour chip in the product detail dialog, and custom colour IDs being lost when saving products to the API.
v2.6.0.130 — (September 2026)
The largest release to date. RapiD Vision Explorer is folded into RapiD Vision, so a single app now covers both live vision control and all data, reporting and analytics. That same app also runs in the browser and installs as a PWA on phones and tablets, alongside the Windows desktop build.
RapiD Vision Explorer is now part of RapiD Vision
- Explorer is merged into RapiD Vision — one app, one login, one release. A separate Explorer install is no longer needed to reach your production data.
- Ported from Explorer: the Data page, the Analytics page, Reports (claim history) with report filters and the report previewer, and Alerts.
- Production and supplier statistics are folded into the Data page, grouped per hour, day, week or batch.
- Added a report settings dialog, and restyled every ported page to match RapiD Vision.
Runs in the browser
- RapiD Vision now runs as a full web app in any modern browser — no install required.
- Adaptive layouts: a responsive pass across live view, settings, history, reports, the configuration editor and every command bar, so the app works on phones and tablets as well as on desktop.
- The 3D point-cloud viewer runs in the browser too, rendered with three.js on WebGL2.
- Generate and preview reports straight from the browser app via the API.
- App settings persist per browser.
- Recording a live stream saves straight from the browser.
- Faster startup: splash screen straight to first frame, parallel initialisation, and page views are kept alive across navigation for instant page swaps.
Installable app (PWA) and push notifications
- Install RapiD Vision to your home screen or desktop straight from the browser — it runs in its own window with an animated splash screen and app icons.
- Offline shell caching, versioned per deploy so an update never serves a stale mix of files.
- Push notifications on the installable app, so alerts reach you when the app is closed.
3D, depth and volume measurement
- Added a Volume Measurement mode to vision configurations.
- Voxelised volume per detection, with a 3D voxel overlay and its own settings section.
- Added a 3D depth-image view to the product dialog, and a 2D/3D toggle to the detections feed.
- Products store their full point cloud, so past products can be replayed in 3D. The measurement plane is stored alongside the cloud.
- Depth images are replaced by real voxel and point-cloud rendering.
- Improved depth accuracy and added a depth auto-aligner.
Home page
- New Home page: live diagnostics in a "Now running" card, plus a today-so-far strip.
- Splash screen with a silent login gate on startup.
- Switch companies live without restarting the app.
- Admins can switch tenants from the Home company card.
Live View and streaming
- Redesigned the Live View detection-stream interface.
- Top, bottom and depth streams start only when a client actually asks for them, which cuts device load and bandwidth considerably.
- Stream-on-demand is self-healing, so a lost demand signal can no longer freeze a stream.
- Added Live View to the desktop navigation drawer.
Data, History and products
- The History page loads products from the API per period, and no longer reshuffles while live detections come in — use Refresh to pull in new data.
- Product lists are paginated with a numbered pager that fetches one page at a time.
- Shared product detail card across the app.
Vision configurations, recipes and alerts
- View and manage vision configurations and sorting recipes while disconnected from the device.
- Colour inspection can be toggled per vision configuration.
- Vision configurations and sorting recipes are created, changed and deleted directly against the API instead of being proxied through the device.
- Unified alerts and system notifications across the app and connected devices.
- More alert options, rule descriptions for hardware alert categories, and a prefilled recipient. The Alerts page no longer needs a separate bulk save.
- Added claim settings.
- Added a colour calibration script; the settings tab is renamed Colors.
Security and access
- Role-based access control is applied in the client, so users only see what their role allows.
- Streaming uses a short-lived relay ticket minted before the stream socket opens, rather than the device minting its own.
- Added a Content Security Policy to the browser app.
Device and backend
- Revived the template matcher and wired it into the detection post-processor.
- Restructured the Python backend: clearer layout, import guardrails and configuration handling.
- Added a lane-membership option for deciding whether a detection belongs to a lane.
- Faster classic inference, and faster masking and colour banding.
- Default YOLO models download automatically.
- Type-checking cleanup across the backend.
Improved
- Uniform button and dialog styling across the app; flat dialog close buttons.
- Restyled the Alerts data grid.
- Prevented conveyor cells from overlapping in the lane manager.
- The product sort dialog is responsive.
- The lane manager hot loop no longer rebuilds its conveyor list and handler map on every pass, and auto-zero timestamps are cached.
- Restart actions triggered from a notification now ask for confirmation first.
- Live diagnostics no longer block on per-process CPU sampling, and network usage updates on every frame.
Fixed
- Fixed a desktop login abort (AADSTS500011) caused by an unused sign-in scope.
- Fixed the browser save dialog crash when exporting, and added a preview spinner.
- Fixed recording saves hanging on mobile browsers.
- Fixed the 3D pane on hybrid-GPU laptops, 3D device loss on the Data page, 3D dragging in the browser, and 3D pane sizing on mobile.
- Fixed the measurement plane not following the sliders, and 3D live-view state being lost between detections.
- Fixed cross-configuration recipe activation, and stopped lane-manager error spam.
- Fixed a time-zone offset issue in product data.
- Connection errors are debounced instead of flooding.
- Restored the detections-per-minute counter.
- Fixed Home company logos and the Home production card.
- Fixed the supplier-statistics columns pointing at keys that did not exist.
- Numerous camera fixes across Basler, RealSense, Galaxy and line-scan devices: buffer starvation, hot-spinning on frame errors, handles left open after a failed start, one bad option aborting the remaining sensors, and lens calibration files mapped to the wrong camera.
- A large batch of device and pipeline stability fixes: crashes on degenerate detections, divide-by-zero cases in geometry and calibration maths, recorder start/stop lifecycle, ERP parsing of missing values, missing HTTP timeouts, and configuration change events reaching only one of several processes.
