Options — Camera

The Camera tab configures the selected camera's type, resolution, image adjustments, and lighting.

Note

Pixel-to-millimeter calibration isn't done here — that's the Calibrate Camera toolbar button, covered in Camera Calibration.

General

Field Description
Camera Type Intel RealSense, ZED Stereo, Default, Microsoft Kinect, Video File, Galaxy Camera, Rolling Line-Scan (Basler), Area-Scan (Basler), or None. Changes which fields below apply.
Resolution Options depend on the Camera Type (see below).
Connected Cameras The list of detected camera IDs. Use the refresh icon to re-scan, and the up/down icons to reorder.
Flip frames (X-axis) / Flip frames (Y-axis) Mirrors the image on that axis.
Auto Exposure Lets the camera manage exposure automatically. Hidden for the Area-Scan (Basler) camera unless its Pylon override is active — see below.
Auto Whitebalance Lets the camera manage white balance automatically. Same Area-Scan (Basler) restriction as Auto Exposure.

Area-Scan (Basler): Pylon Override

For the Area-Scan (Basler) camera, exposure, gain, and white balance normally live in the Pylon Viewer and are stored on the camera itself — RapiD Vision doesn't touch them. An orange Override camera image settings panel appears for this camera type; select it to let this app write those values instead (replacing the Pylon Viewer configuration), which reveals the Auto Exposure/Whitebalance toggles and the image-adjustment sliders below. Select Stop overriding (use camera's own settings) to hand control back to Pylon. While overriding is off, the toolbar's Reset to default button is also hidden, since there's nothing here for it to reset.

Image Adjustment

Which sliders appear depends on the selected Camera Type:

Area-Scan and Rolling Line-Scan (Basler) also show an Offset X / Offset Y pair (0–500) alongside the group above.

ZED Stereo and Microsoft Kinect have no dedicated image-adjustment sliders.

Always Shown

These fields apply to the whole system, not per Top/Bottom camera or camera type:

Linescan Line height (1–50), Linescan Frame height (100–5000), and Linescan Encoder Divider (1–250) are only shown for the Rolling Line-Scan (Basler) camera type.

Secondary Camera (Depth)

A second camera can be attached alongside the Top camera to measure depth only — it runs no detection of its own; its point cloud is matched to whatever the top camera's main detector finds. This section only appears while editing the Top camera configuration.

  1. Pick a Camera Type for the secondary camera from the same dropdown used for the main camera.
  2. Once enabled, select it from the Connected Cameras list (already-used serials are filtered out so the two cameras can't open the same device).

Exposure, resolution, and flip settings aren't shown for the secondary camera — the backend runs it depth-only, where none of them apply. Aligning the secondary camera's depth image against the top camera's color image is done on the 3D tab instead, since that's where the live point-cloud preview shows the effect. Until it's aligned, a warning here and on the 3D tab reminds you that no usable depth will be measured yet.

Reset to Default

The page toolbar's Reset to default button resets image-adjustment values to sensible defaults for the current Camera Type:
